The History of Argentina
Before the arrival of the Spanish, Argentina was inhabited by nomadic tribes. The Yamana lived in Patagonia and the Gurani lived in the tropical northeast. Both tribes were traditionally hunters but several did settle and grow crops such as maize.
In 1502, Europeans arrived in the region of Argentina with the voyage of Amerigo Vespucci. It was then explored by Juan Diaz de Solis in 1516. The people of Argentina were tired of being treated as second, third, and fourth class citizens. The Argentinians did not like the Spanish Taxes and wanted them to end. Jose de Martin, fought for the independence of Argentina in 1814. Argentina gained independence from Spain on July 9th, 1816.
